The property is located in Old Castle Road in the old village area of Cathcart. The apartment is on the second floor of a traditional red sandstone tenement. The stairway ("close") has been totally refurbished with beautiful clean tiling and paintwork which is unusual in older properties. The apartment (again unusually) has an open outlook opposite and there is a clear view across trees growing along the River Cart.

On the doorstep

Across from the apartment is a small licensed grocers for smaller purchases of provisions. The nearest large supermarket is about one mile away at Toryglen.

Turning left as you come out of the apartment, about 100 metres along Old Castle Road is "The Old Smiddy" - a blacksmiths in times gone by, but now a cosy pub with TV screens and good food.

Just around the corner from the pub, is the entrance to Linn Park which has pleasant walks along the river and views across to architect Alexander "Greek" Thomson's finest creation Holmwood House. It is possible to cross the river by "Snuff Mill Bridge" - a 17th Century crossing and continue walking on the other side of the river. Some pictures can be seen under "Nearby Areas" on the menu.

Turning right as you come out of the apartment, and continuing left at the mini-roundabout junction you reach Cathcart railway station. It is no more than a 5 minute walk from the apartment.

For people who decide to stay for a few weeks, we can arrange a temporary membership to Newlands Tennis Club. The club has 6 outdoor tennis courts and four top class squash courts. There is also a small gymnasium and all that lost sweat can be replaced in the upstairs bar ! The club is on Langside Drive - a short distance from the apartment.
